Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp Micropigmentation

The Scalp Micropigmentation is an aesthetic treatment of scalp micropigmentation, which can provide a sense of density even in cases of complete hair loss! It is a completely safe medical tattoo technique, with which tiny dots that are the same color, size, and shape as your natural hair follicles, aiming to restore lost density in thinning areas of the scalp.

How is SMP implemented?

Also known as SMP, Scalp Tattoo or Scalp Trichopigmentation (STP) method, Scalp Micropigmentation is the most natural solution for covering up areas of thinning hair, so that the "bare" scalp skin is not visible. Using a special and 100% safe pigment, we draw very small dots on the scalp, creating exact copies of your hair folliclesIn this way, we offer the feeling of density on the scalp and we reduce the difference between the bald areas and your hair. The color of the pigment is always carefully selected based on the color of your hair, so that the result is completely natural and undetectable.

Some people choose Scalp Tattoo to achieve the shaved look, while others prefer it to make less visible areas of thinning or parting lineThe SMP method is also excellent for covering older scars due to FUT hair transplantation, which allows you to have even shorter hair.

For both short and long hair!

Scalp Micropigmentation it's not just for those who love the shaved look. It is an aesthetic treatment suitable for those who have long hair, but wish to camouflage the thinning areas for an even "fuller" head. Even when the hair is long, it looks thinner and weaker if it is thin and the scalp is visible between them. By targeted creation of colored microdots in specific areas of the scalp, the color contrast between skin and hair color is reduced, making thinning areas less visible and hair look fuller.

Suitable candidates for Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp Micropigmentation is a painless, non-invasive procedure that can change your look within a few hours, by redesigning the front line, "filling" sparse areas, and camouflaging any scars.

Density enhancement

SMP can enhance the appearance of hair density in any case of hair loss or thinning. The faithful reproduction of hair follicles in the same color as natural hair follicles “fills” sparse areas either on the entire head or in places, and deceives the eye by giving a uniform image of thick and strong hair.
Image of a short-cut or shaved look

It is perhaps the most popular treatment for men who like to have their hair shaved or cut very close, as even if there is no hair loss, it corrects the micro-gaps that may naturally exist in the scalp. Scalp Micropigmentation evenly “fills” all the gaps and gives the appearance of a three-day shaved head.
Frontline redesign

The receding hairline is one of the main phenomena that accompany hair loss. With Scalp Micropigmentation we can redesign it and restore the youthful appearance of your hair, always in perfect harmony with your age and the rest of your facial features.
Women with alopecia

With 50% of women suffering from some form of hair loss (most commonly diffuse or androgenetic), Scalp Micropigmentation is an ideal treatment for women of all ages, both those who choose short haircuts and those who have long hair and wish to enhance the appearance of density in thinning areas (usually on top and near the parting).
Hair transplant scar coverage

Scalp Micropigmentation can even be applied to areas of the scalp where there are scars, such as after a hair transplant using the older FUT/Strip method. SMP can cover the linear scar left behind by the FUT method, which often gives away the hair transplant, with dots in the exact same color as the hair.
Inappropriate hair transplant cases

In cases that are not suitable for hair transplantation, for example when there is no satisfactory donor area, Scalp Micropigmentation can provide a significant density effect even in cases of advanced hair loss. SMP can also be applied in combination with hair transplantation to enhance the result.

A pleasant, painless method

Scalp micropigmentation (SMP or STP) is carried out comfortably in our state-of-the-art clinic, while you relax watching movies or enjoying a short nap. The duration of the session for treating either the front half of the scalp or the top of the head is about 4 hoursOf course the session lasts longer if you want to treat larger areas.

Many of our patients feel comfortable without the use of local anesthetic, but as a medical clinic we can completely numb the scalp if desired. Our priority is to make the procedure as easy and comfortable as possible for you.

How many SMP sessions will I need?

The number of sessions depends on the areas of thinning. Each session lasts about 4 hours and can provide coverage in one area, such as the top of the head. Also, to redesign the front line (hairline) or to cover one or more scars resulting from a previous FUT hair transplant, one session is sufficient. However, if there is extensive thinning or even baldness over the entire head, then 3 or 4 sessions are likely to be needed for a complete result, with intervals of 10-20 days.

How long do the results last?

The result lasts for many years. The color does not fade, it just becomes a little lighter in the long term. Then if you wish, you can undergo a “retouch” session to enhance the color or even the density and maintain the flawless result for many more years.

Will the color change like tattoos?

No. Unlike tattoo inks, the ink used for trichome thickening does not contain additional pigments or other substances, as it moves within the color spectrum of short-cropped hair. Also, SMP is applied with different tools than those used for traditional tattoos, as these are needles and machines specifically designed for application to the scalp.

Is the result of Scalp Micropigmentation detectable?

Scalp Micropigmentation is a popular method of treating hair loss precisely because of the completely natural and undetectable result it offers. Special inks are used and a special way of injecting them into the scalp to create faithful copies of natural hair follicles. Even if someone observes the scalp very closely, they cannot perceive the difference between them.

I have gray hair. Can I have Scalp Micropigmentation?

Of course. Those with gray hair can also benefit from the SMP method. First, it is recommended to cut the hair short so that gray hair does not look so gray as its roots are always darker. Second, a grayer shade of dye is used and adjusted to perfectly match the lighter tones of the hair and the difference is not noticeable.

Can a hair transplant scar be covered with SMP?

Yes! The method can be applied with absolute safety both on the scar site and in the area around the scar, but also on any part of the scalp that has marks left from a previous hair transplant or other surgery, burn or injury. Scalp Micropigmentation offers excellent coverage of scars, so that the hairless scar tissue does not stand out from among your hair.

Will I need to take time off from work?

Hair thickening is a non-invasive procedure that does not require any recovery time. In most cases, there is no need to miss work, school, or any other daily activities. After the treatment, you may experience mild redness on your scalp for 2-3 days, which will subside very quickly. You may also wear a hat if you feel it is necessary.

Can I wash or shave my hair after SMP?

It is recommended not to scrub, bathe or shave the treated area for 4-5 days after the SMP session.

Can I go into a swimming pool, sauna or steam room after SMP?

It is recommended to avoid using a swimming pool, sauna or steam room for 28 days after the final SMP session.

How is SMP different from traditional tattooing?

There are three main differences between Scalp Micropigmentation and traditional tattoos. First, the SMP ink is injected more superficially than traditional tattoos, only 2 millimeters deep into the dermis. Second, the SMP technique is strictly based on the reproduction of microdots using the pointillism method and no lines or shading are drawn. Finally, only one special ink is used that is much more diluted than typical tattoo inks, so it does not break up into different colors, nor does the color appear very intense as a result.
