Step 1

The first step in FUE Direct IO hair transplantation is the detailed study of the entire scalp with a special dermatoscope to record the characteristics and density of the hair follicles in both the donor and recipient areas. We record the degree of hair loss based on the Norwood scale and use sophisticated calculation formulas to we determine the coverage value (Coverage Value) that we can achieve in the thinning areas of the scalp per square centimeter.

Step 2

It is the step in which the entire hair transplant is planned. Our goal is to make the best use of the available hair follicles in the donor area, while protecting it from removing an excessive number of grafts, so that it continues to look dense after the hair transplant. Step 3

At this point begins the extraction of hair follicles from the donor area. We remove the hair follicles one by one using either the manual FUE Direct IO method or the motorized FUE Direct IO technique. The extraction process takes approximately 2 to 4 hours, depending on the number of grafts to be harvested.

Step 4

The separation and the grouping of hair follicles according to the number of hairs that they contain (single hairs, double hairs, triple hairs, quadruple hairs, etc.). From the moment of extraction until the moment of their implantation, the hair follicles are maintained at a specific temperature and in a special solution with ingredients that ensure their survival and regrowth in their new location.

Step 5

Thanks to the special software program Graft Calculator, an application certified by the World FUE Institute, the grafts are counted before your eyes. The hair follicles are registered based on the number of hairs they contain and we can know their number with absolute precision at any time and we organize their distribution more effectively in the thinned areas. Step 6

After the extraction and counting of hair follicles is complete, followed by their placement with an atraumatic Implanter Pen, which implants the grafts in their new position in one motion. At THE ANTIAGERS Regrow clinics we use the smallest Implanter Pen on the market, which allows us not only to avoid trauma to the tissues, but also to place the hair follicles very close to each other and thus achieve maximum density. The Implanter Pen, also known as a tsoi, allows completely natural and undetectable result, as well as faster healing compared to any other implantation method. The stage of hair follicle implantation lasts approximately 4 hours. After the hair transplant is complete, we proceed to wash the donor area and after you are given the relevant instructions for the first few days, you can return home. Your next appointment is scheduled after 2 days for washing and re-checking the area.

What is FU?

FU is the acronym for Follicular Unit, which is the hair follicle or otherwise the follicular unit, and is the basis of the FUE hair transplant, since hairs do not grow one by one but in groups with the root of the hair follicle. Does FUE Direct IO hurt?

No. At reGrow Clinic, hair transplantation is performed in a specially equipped room using local anesthesia. In fact, we administer a very small dose of anesthesia, as we inject it into targeted points on the scalp that stop the entire path of pain to the scalp (Ring Block anesthesia method), making the transplantation process completely tolerable. Note that for a hair transplant, a smaller amount of anesthetic is needed than what a dentist uses! After a hair transplant, it is sufficient to take a common analgesic for the first 24 hours to deal with any discomfort.

How long does a FUE Direct IO hair transplant take?

The duration of the FUE Direct IO hair transplant depends on the number of hair follicles that we plan to extract from the donor area and implant in the thinning areas. Generally speaking, a transplant of 1,500 hair follicles is completed in a one-day surgery (approximately 8 hours), while if the goal is to transplant 2,500 hair follicles, then it is a mega session that requires a two-day surgery to complete.

No! This is the advantage of the FUE Direct IO method. The grafts are extracted one by one from the donor area, leaving behind tiny pinhole-like holes with a diameter of less than one millimeter, which heal within 2-4 days and are no longer detectable.

Is the result natural?

When hair transplantation is performed by an experienced and specialized doctor using the modern FUE Direct IO method, the most advanced medical tools and special software programs, the result is natural and undetectable.
